Solar installation jobs are usually associated with homeowners, or on roofs of different companies. However, is interesting to analyse the most unusual installation projects, how they work, and why they are so eye-catching.

Below are some of the most unusual solar installation projects to date. Have a read to see how and why they were implemented.

Vertical Panels

First up is a commercial building in Minnesota. This building included having solar panels on the vertical side of the building.

These were installed at varying angles to add a distinct wave pattern to the structure of the building.

This is especially unusual due to the function of these solar panels acting both as energy generators, as well as an aesthetically pleasing art piece.

Below is an image below demonstrating these vertical panels. As you can see these are very eye-catching and of course extremely different from the more discreet panels placed out of sight and on top of buildings.

Covered Head to Toe

Next up is a striking building in Philadelphia. Here you can see the entire building is covered with solar panels. This design was created to maximise PV output without having to subread to renewable energy credits.

It was created by an architecture firm, whose dream was to create this eye-catching and energy-efficient building. They do so extremely successfully.

Marketing

Finally, there are a few projects that incorporated energy efficiency with the marketing of their company.

This is a very clever technique to ensure the marketing side of the company is being noticed.

Examples from his include the Whistle Pig distillery in Vermont and the community-based arts and cultural organization Esperanza Peace and Justice Centre in Texas.

The distillery ensured their company name and logo were plastered across the solar skin. This wrap made it clear to all who they were.

In Texas, similar ideas were had with local arts murals. Where local art covered the solar skin of the panels. Creating an aesthetically pleasing design for both.
